Three Sisters Mountain Village (TSMV) has released the Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) for the proposed Area Structure Plans (ASP) for both Smith Creek and Resort Centre.
So, what is the purpose of an EIS?
The purpose of an EIS is to identify the environmental risks associated with a development project and the mitigation strategies to reduce and/or eliminate those identified risks. It also provides an assessment of what could happen after mitigation strategies are put into place. The EIS also includes a study of the cumulative effects of the proposed Smith Creek ASP and Resort Centre ASP Amendment combined with past, present and future developments.
How is the EIS used in the decision process of the ASPs?
The EIS is used to inform Council about the identified risks and mitigation strategies in order for Council to make an informed decision in regards to the approval of both proposed ASPs.
